Wholesale Gramophones: How to Import from China (MOQ, FOB, Lead Time)

China is the main production base for gramophone-style cabinets and record players, and importing them is straightforward once you understand the commercial basics. This guide walks through MOQ, Incoterms, lead time and quality control so your first order goes smoothly.

1. Why China for gramophones

The category combines woodworking, painting and electronics in one product, and Chinese factories in the furniture-audio cluster have all three trades in-house. That integration keeps MOQs low and quality controllable — the same reasons importers in this category almost always source from Guangdong and nearby regions.

2. Understanding MOQ

MOQ (minimum order quantity) is the smallest number of units a factory will produce per model. A reasonable starting point for gramophone cabinets is around 50 pcs per model, and many factories are flexible for first-time cooperation or a mixed-model trial order. Always confirm the MOQ in writing before sampling, and ask whether a sample order counts toward it.

3. FOB and other Incoterms

FOB (Free On Board) is the most common Incoterm for gramophone imports: the factory's responsibility ends when the goods are loaded on the vessel, and you arrange ocean freight, insurance and customs clearance. For your first orders, compare FOB quotes from two or three factories rather than comparing prices alone — spec sheets and materials matter more than the unit price.

4. Lead time and production

Lead time depends on the model and quantity. Ready models with existing tooling are fastest; custom finishes, logos and packaging (OEM) add a little time; full ODM development goes through design and sampling first. Ask for a production schedule with milestones and a committed shipment date in the contract.

5. Quality control and inspection

For furniture-grade audio, inspect before shipment. A good factory provides batch-by-batch inspection with photos and records, and you can also hire a third-party inspector. Agree on the checklist up front — cabinet finish, electronics function, vinyl speed support, packaging integrity — so there are no surprises at the port.

6. Getting an accurate quote

A complete RFQ names the model numbers, target quantity, destination port and any branding or finish requirements. With that information, a factory can quote price, MOQ, lead time and packaging in one round. If you are at the shortlist stage, we are happy to quote from our catalog — send your models and quantity and you will get a reply within 24 hours.
